Waihi - NZ's Heart of Gold   Print House Ltd

Waihi Booklet The mining history of Waihi creates a sense of establishment among the locals which is almost palpable to people visiting this vibrant Hauraki District town.
In fact, Waihi is one of New Zealand's most famous mining towns and during the first half of last century was home to one of the most important gold and silver mines in the world.
It is this heritage that gives Waihi its unique quality and while the Martha Mine is currently producing, there was a period of about 35 years when mining ceased. This inevitably created an economic downturn for Waihi.
In 1997 a marketing arm was formed through the Hauraki District Council for tourism in the Waihi area, adopting the name "Go Waihi".
Go Waihi's brief was to inject some vitality into the central business district and to provide a stimulus to improve the economic viability of the town. Marketing and promoting the Waihi area to a wider audience has been, and continues to be, a key ingredient to the success of this initiative.
Go Waihi's current booklet highlights the vast range of historic and scenic attractions in the area along with walking tracks and other relevant information for visiting the area.
Gathering the information for the booklet and then assembling it into an affordable, yet attractive, format has been the responsibility of Brian Gentil, Co-ordinator of Go Waihi, who liaised with Anna Whitmore of Print House in the planning stages. Melissa McGregor of Designshed in Waihi created the print-ready PDF file for the 32 page DLE booklet.
Printed on 115gsm Neo Gloss stock in 4-colour process, the high-quality booklet is completed with saddlestitch binding.
Brian Gentil, Co-ordinator of Go Waihi, says, "The Waihi, New Zealand's Heart of Gold brochure was a major undertaking considering the current economic downturn, and it's been great to work with the likes of Anna from Print House and Melissa of Waihi's Designshed. Anna's advice and quick responses to questions and concerns certainly made decision making on this project a lot simpler and clearer, and things ran smoothly during the set up stages of the brochure thanks to Melissa, whose knowledge and expertise was certainly appreciated. We\0x2019re very pleased with the end product, and while it\0x2019s only been out in the market place for a short time, the feedback from both the public and stockists around the country has been very positive."
