Print is the foundation of literacy and there are many research documents highlighting the link between social breakdown and poor literacy.
As society places more awareness on purchasing with an environmental conscience there is a need to understand the real impact a product places on the environment rather than relying on false perceptions or unsubstantiated claims. Today we live in a knowledge society, but personal, political and corporate agendas and pressures can impair our judgment. To comprehend and understand we must know the facts and 'read the full story'. It is now being touted by some researchers that the learning process is enhanced greatly by reading the printed word as opposed to electronic versions. The printed page also has the benefit of having significantly less impact on the environment compared to the electronic version.
