Message from our CEO   Print House Ltd

Welcome to issue 54 of the Printing Plus newsletter.
Winter is now into full swing and I guess many parents will be finding themselves standing on the sidelines of various sports fields braving the cold, wet conditions that have prevailed recently.
For myself, I have been enjoying some splendid football, albeit wearing a rain coat and carrying an umbrella most of the time.
For life closer to work, the chain graphic on the cover of this issue helps signify our impetus to sustainable management.
Hopefully you are already aware that Print House has successfully achieved the PEFC and FSC Chain of Custody certifications for paper supply and the bronze level of Enviromark® NZ for our waste management procedures.
These certifications are all part of our connection to the environment and our commitment to responsible and sustainable management.
Our Chain of Custody certifications essentially depict the link between business, social and environmental integrity.
Even in 'tough times' Print House continues to support many organisations such as the Hamilton Performing Arts Trust (which is featured in this issue), the Hamilton City Christmas Tree, The Waikato Chamber of Commerce, The Radio Networks Special Children's Christmas Party, Hamilton Gardens Summer Festival and, more recently, the Moehau Environment Group, among many others.
The combination of this support for local organisations and our environmental commitment is indicative of how our policies are helping to assist the local community in which we all share.
Taking the right steps towards making a difference is our recent publication that focuses on minimising humanity's impact on the environment, but the message is also that we must all work together.
I believe that if local government and businesses work together and support organisations that implement best practice methods and responsible environmental strategies then the entire community will benefit thus enabling the pressure of a recession and tough economic decisions to be more manageable.
In many industries you will find what we term as 'cowboy operators'. It is quite noticeable in the print industry that some companies flout recognised environmental standards. We cover some things to be aware of on pages 8 and 9 of this issue.
Also highlighted are projects for the Hamilton Performing Arts, Hamilton's Event Facilities Profile and Wintec's Fieldays Exhibitor project.
Yours in print,
Brett Phillips, CEO of Print House
